Week 7 (6/15-23/21)

Week 7 (6/15-23/21)

Holt Lake, AL (6/15/21) Heading back down the Black Warrior River

Tuscaloosa @ Riverwalk Pier, AL (6/16/21) We tried to stop here on the way up river but the dock was underwater when we went by. So glad we got to stop on the way back down as they have 2 delicious restaurants right by the pier, and a brewery with some of the best beer we’d had in awhile.

Old Lock #8 (6/17/21)

Demopolis AL @ Kingfisher Bay Marina on Tombigbee River (6/18-23/21) Glad to be back at this marina to wait out Claudette, which actually was a nonevent for us. Unfortunately the river did start to rise again, there was a barge stuck on the spillway 2 locks up and nobody was going through. So we waited for them to clear the barge, then the barge traffic had to be cleared before they let pleasure cruisers through.

Happy Father's Day to Kent!

More cute baby pictures!

Week 6 (6/7-14/21)

Week 6 (6/7-14/21)

Bashi Creek, AL (6/7/21) On the Tombigbee River there are few marinas and some tight anchorages. We found one in Bashi. We also started paying attention to things like currents, flood waters, barges and locks.

Demopolis @ Kingfisher Bay Marina, AL (6/8-9/21)

Big Prairie Creek on Black Warrior River, AL (6/10/21) Nice anchorage with homes scattered around. We went for a long dinghy ride, returned to the boat for a grilled dinner, turned on the anchor light, went to bed. We knew there were bugs out that night but nothing like the hatch we discovered the next morning. Due to need to conserve fresh water we hauled buckets of lake water to try and clean up before these creatures dried all over the boat!

Old Lock #8, AL (6/11/21) Anchored in fairly strong current but river subsided over night.

Holt Lake, AL (6/12/21) Used a mooring can just above the lock. Nice campground with dinghy dock nearby. This is where the water started clearing out again, nice swim and cruising.

Franklin Ferry Marina, AL (6/13-14/21) Cafe at the marina. Such nice folks, when Kent asked what we owed them for the 2 nights he said nothing. So we gave them a nice tip and enjoyed catfish and shrimp at the restaurant.

Week 5 (6/1-6/21)

Week 5 (6/1-6/21)

Mobile Bay @ Convention Center, AL (6/1-3/21) Great location to wine & cheese, breweries, beignets, oysters and shrimp! Many mega naval ships, barges and even an Airbus ship!

This is the end of our salt water adventure for awhile.

3 Rivers Lake on the Mobile River, AL (6/4/21) Short trip to our anchorage in a creek.

Coffeeville @ Bobby’s Fish Camp on Tombigbee River, AL(6/5-6/21)

Our 40th Anniversary! What an Amazing year this has been! Ups and Downs, new adventures/old friends, beautiful scenery, sunsets and water! We did not get to experience the famous catfish at Bobby's Fish Camp but had a wonderful evening! Steak, rainbows, sunset to die for and hanging out with my Amazing husband! Love you Babe! 😍

Week 4 (5/24-31/21)

Week 4 (5/24-31/21)

Perdido Key near Ft. McRee (5/24-25/21) Beautiful anchorage in the bay by the island. White sand beaches (good for Bodie running), clear water, lovely sunsets, full moon and shark sightings!

This one in honor of Ginny's Birthday, the Scorpio!

Robert’s Bayou Alabama (5/26-27/21)
Cruised into Alabama and dropped anchor near the Pirates Cove restaurant!

Fairhope@ Fly Creek Marina, AL (5/28-31/21) Cruised by Lulu’s (Jimmie Buffet’s sister’s restaurant) and happened to be in the same marina as the Sunset Pointe Restaurant. Excellent fish and view. We did not find them as biking friendly as they claimed, many hills but we got a great workout! Spectacular sunset and beautiful homes near the marina.

And of course cute baby pictures!
