Week 2 (5/10-17/21)
Cedar Key (5/10-12/21) Anchored near Atsena Otie Key. Loved
being back in Cedar Key although we didn’t do any kayaking this time we did
plenty of walking. Old friends, Neil and Dara, invited us to their river home
for an amazing fish feed. Kent contributed his tuna to the feed! So fun to hear how friends are doing, how they ended
up where they are and what future plans they have. By the way the tide in the boat ramp side of Cedar Key is very shallow, so before you dock your dinghy check the depth it is expected to be by the time you get back. Bodie was very patient and laid on the dock while Kent and I drug the dinghy around the far end of the dock to deeper water! 😂
Carrabelle (5/13-14/21) C-Quarters Marina. 13 hour crossing of the Gulf of Mexico! I was very nervous but really not too bad. We actually left Cedar Key 2 days early as the weather was good, expecting to get worse over the course of the week. We had about 3 hours going into Carrabelle that was uncomfortable, mostly when we were quartering the waves. Celebrated with a beer when we arrived and found a cute place with live music and good food!
Apalachicola (5/15-17/21) Water Street Hotel & Marina. Another Great Place! Although there was still some rebuilding going on, most places have reopened. Its so sad to see the destruction some of these places have encountered due to hurricanes. We found a beautiful Memorial Park, adorable house boats to rent for the night and of course Oyster City Brewery!
