Week 11 (July 20-25)

 Week 11 July 20-25, 2021

Little Tennessee River and Ft. Loudoun TN @ anchored at Historical Site (7/20-22/21)

Many fellow boaters encouraged us to explore the Little Tennessee River. Beautiful river but very populated. We did go up as far as we could in Daydream, where I got some nice pictures of the Smoky Mountains.

We traveled back down the river to anchor off the Ft. Loudoun Historical site. We toured the museum and learned some history of this area. Ft. Loudoun, being one of the first British forts in the Appalachian area, helped ally the Cherokee nation to the British and block further French invasion. The site had a museum with original weapons, tools, clothing, video, as well as, outer authentic buildings of the late 1700’s! Nice picnic and walking trails right along the water!

Bussell Island TN @ Marina (7/23-24/21) After traveling through the Ft. Loudoun lock we pulled into the marina, then we took the dinghy out to explore some small tributaries. We saw amazing sunsets with a blazing sun, lovely colors and smooth water!  This part of the river has some beautiful riverside views, landscape and homes. Also a nice variety of beer on tap right at the marina! Bodie even got to play a little soccer with a ball we found on our walk.

Sale Creek TN @ anchor (7/25/21) Let me just start by saying we sold our Malibu ski boat to 2 Amazing people! I got in touch with Connie when we were in Chattanooga. I let her know when we would be near their home. She and her husband Jay not only took time out of their schedule to meet up with us but brought the Malibu so we could water ski on the river! After a few nights wondering if we would be able to slalom (it had been several years) Kent and I had Wonderful time getting to know Connie and Jay, skiing, and driving our former boat! What a great evening that made our trip so very special! Connie also brought a colorful basket of her homemade bread, homegrown vegies, herbs and eggs! The next morning Kent and I enjoyed an omelet with all the freshest ingredients! Thank you Connie and Jay!
